Elder Henry Bernard Alex is the Senior Pastor/Teacher/Prophet of Victory Temple Fellowship Church, “A Church of God in Christ” and TWUDCF, in Syracuse New York. He along with his wife, Jahnjae (pronounced Jan – Jay), humbly accepted the call, with transition of life, to develop and formulate this dynamic ministry that welcomes all to the table of the Lord. Pastor Alex has recognized his failures and successes and gives all glory to the Lord for counting him worthy to carry this message of Restoration and Increase. To share with all people that God has a plan to use them. That God does not cast away those that come with a broken and a contrite spirit, but will use them to be the greatest healers of others who are in need of knowing the unconditional love of God. Pastor Alex has accepted this challenge with humility and appreciation to God for using a broken but restored vessel! As Prophet Alex states often, “All is Well!”
He is an active participant with Turning The World Upside Down Covenant Fellowship (TWUDCF), where Bishop T. Anthony Bronner is Presiding Prelate. Elder Alex is also active with both the Trinity District and Western New York Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, where Bishop Glenwood H. Young is Presiding Prelate, and Dr. Wilma J. Hughey is Supervisor.
Pastor Alex, a native of Syracuse matriculated through Tuskegee Institute University, Tuskegee Alabama majoring in English Education Arts. Religious studies were done at Tuskegee Institute Chapel, “Institute of Religious Studies”, with Dean James Earl Massey. Post Baccalaureate studies in Curriculum Development and Program Design were done at Syracuse University
As an active citizen in his community, Pastor Alex served on the Board of Directors of Hospice of Central New York, Community Reinvestment Committee of HSBC, Community General Hospital Foundation Board, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Syracuse. He also served as first chair of the Citizen Review Board that provides oversight for complaints of alleged police misconduct in the City of Syracuse. As first Chair, he helped to lay the foundation for this critical community organization.
He has been recognized in the field of religion and community service by INROADS of Upstate New York, Syracuse University, and has received the PRISM Award from the Rape Crisis Center. He has also received awards from the National Council of Negro Women, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Urban League of Syracuse and Onondaga County, and Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority for active roles in the community, children/youth issues and concerns for people in general.
Pastor Alex is an anointed preacher and singer, an educator, administrator and co-laborer in the building of God’s kingdom. He has won vocal music scholarships through the Mobil Foundation. He has sung with the Syracuse Symphony, Syracuse Opera, Hartford Opera, Buffalo Philharmonic and Opera. He has toured the country with Porgy and Bess, and sang lead in Langston Hughes “The Black Nativity” in New York City and Long Island. A sought after soloist and psalmist, Pastor Alex is often asked to sing and inspire people to worship God for his greatness and favor. In September of 1999, he recorded his first live CD with Evangelist Dorothy Norwood to rave reviews.
He is married to the understanding and beautiful woman of God, Lady Jahnjae E. Alex, who is a native of Monrovia Liberia, West Africa. She is a powerful woman of God and a definite asset to her husband. Her ministry of grace, her elegance and love for God radiates from deep within her and is visible for all to see. They are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters, Zeruiah Marie, Zaire Emmanuela, and Zion Jahnelle, and one son, Zecarjah Bernard.
Pastor Alex loves his family, his church family, his music and above all Jesus the Christ. This is evident for he sings and speaks with fervor and conviction and has shared this God given gift all over the country and the world.
As the Scripture states, “to whom much is given, much is required”. Pastor Alex is indebted to God to give back to his family, community and faith community for all the support, prayers and love they have given him. And the miracle continues...To God be the Glory!
